    Obituary

The stolen hours are never stolen

    when they're freely given

    as a Gift

    to each other

    and Iain was always generous

    with you, and to you,

    Maggie.

    You remained so well loved.

    No-one and nothing

    can, orwill, ever change that.

  • "The Mouser"

With a great sadness today 21/10/2010 I heard the news that Iain had passed on.

I worked with Iain in quite a few places over the years and although its been many years since I last met with Iain, often when I'd meet up with old work colleagues his name was never far away when regaling each other with tales from the past! (mostly humorous tales).

    He was a great guy!

    My condolences to his family.

You were the best thing that ever happened to me and I’m still struggling to find the right words so for now I’ll just say thank you for loving me, thank you for being my hero and all round good guy and thank you for all the time we shared together – we lived our lives to the full and by your mantra of you only get one shot at it!

Miss you so much it’s unbearable.

    With all my love forever.

I love you loads and i miss you loads and you will always be in my heart. I love listening to all the stories Gran Maggie tells me about you both but it will never be the story of my dad setting a street on fire when he was 7. You had a WONDERFUL life and you were loved.

i will never forget the song: THAT'S AMORE that we would sing in the car when we were driving up to aberdeen!

Love you loads from Chunky Monkey xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • Memories

    Lunch at Crinan

You left us so very quickly

    No time to say goodbye

We have asked ourselves so often

    WHY WHY WHY?

We had you for a little while

    You really made us smile

For all of us, you really would have walked

    That long last mile.

For those of us there gathered

On that special New Years Day

Saw you in top form, in such a happy way

You sent us home with laughter in our head and hearts

We shall always remember - what a lovely way to part

It was as if you were saying.............. ...

    'Remember me this way'

Thank you for looking after us so well, for making sure we had the best fuel, the best synthetic oil and not to mention taking our wheels off at least once a year to give them "A Proper Mouat Clean".

We will all miss you dreadfully and hope that you've not picked up too many tickets on those super highways in the sky.

  • Me Ol' Scottish Mate

Iain and his boys on Rig 810 Algeria

To me ol’ Scottish mate I’ll never forget your wonderful outlook on life. I’m glad I was lucky enough to have met you and spent time, working with you in Algeria, you were a great mentor to me in my early oilfield career. The banter was first class. May you long be surrounded by quality German mechanical engineering, on those super highways in the sky. Rest in peace me old mate.

From your Aussie mates Chris, Sherrie & Liam Dunshea

  • From Kathy and Ian in Dronfield

    Why?

Maire - Lots of people here knew you both well. We only met you briefly but felt the warmth of you both.

Know we're thinking of you and the Old Mechanic.

    God Bless xxxx

  • So much love to you both xxx

    To my dear friend Mairi

You and Iain just belonged together. You shared adventures and friends, your shared energy and a zest for life, you made space in your lives for each other's friends and families, and did everything you could to make your own lives rich and to enrich the lives of all those around you. You simply did everything possible to make each others' desires come true.

I don't think Iain was sentimental, he was honest and straightforward and practical, and his love for you and his family expressed itself in his every deed - no other man would have installed so many kitchens!

You worked so hard for his funeral service and it captured him perfectly, everybody said so. The bacon butties were inspired -I never saw him eat anything with quite the same enthusiasm as he attacked a great Scottish breakfast, and it was a great way to send him off. Well done you!

So Iain's on his oversized motorbike in the heavens, routing for you, encouraging you to fight on until life becomes fun again, but mostly ignoring your pleas to slow down! Your friends are here feeling helpless but so much wanting you to heal. Please be strong – you know how hopeless we are – I’ve heard there are already floods in Gretna, but Turkey and Houghton Conquest have had advance notice to prepare their defences!

Love to you both - The Rottie

  • Iain when we met

    Saudi style party

You are all right, Iain was very friendly. but I never got a cuddle like some.

  • Let your tears flow, let them water your soul (3)

No-one's life takes a totally straightforward path - and though Iain and Maggie parted ways, their past love and their children and grandchildren continued to form a solid and loving family bond between them, while still permitting them to follow their own separate paths to a new love and happiness in their lives.

Iain's path led him to Mairi, who undoubtedly found her soul mate in Iain and who must assuredly know that she was well loved by Iainin return. Mairi, there are times when life feels, and indeed is,so unjust, so totally unfair, that there is no acceptable answer to that haunting Question "Why..???". Please be assured that you are not alone in asking why Iain's life was cut short so suddenly and cruelly, and reach out as and when you feel you can, to the rest of us who are asking that same question.

To "My Big Cousin" Iain's Mother, Isobel, who has so sadly lost her eldest son, and to Billy and Angus and their sons, who have lost a brother and uncle, I pass on my sincere condolences and prayers for healing.

  • Let your tears flow, let them water your soul (2)

I'm grateful to Iain and Maggie, not only for their part in my life, but also in my late Mum's life - Iain's "wee Auntie Betty" and the countless kindnesses shown to both of us by them and their kids. Iain knows I will always stand behind Maggie and her partner John, in love and support ofIain and Maggie'schildren and grandchildren.

My loving thoughts are with Mags, Stevie, Carrie and thegrandkids especially today, of all days, when the terrible reality of Iain's life being cut short so suddenly and far, far too early, becomes a dreadfully harsh reality - and they mourn his passing, while celebratingIain's Life (he would have loved the 'celebrating' part). And, they have many fond memories to hold in their hearts and cherish, that's for sure. Know that I will be there with you, in Spirit and with Love.

  • Let your tears flow, let them water your soul (1)

    Obituary

In fondest and Loving Memory of my "Big Cousin Iain" - who I always looked up to as a kid, and who introduced me to my first real love, his best friend at that time, who I was with for 3 1/2 years. Serious stuff for a young teenager..! Iain also introduced me to his first real love Maggie, who he later went on to marry and who he had two beautiful children with, Stevie and Carrie. How time passes - these lovely and lovingkids now have lovely and loving kids of their own, my Princess Luby (Sammantha), Glen, and Lachie, who Iain also loved with a passion. I am blessed that I was given the honorary title of Aunt and now Great Aunt to these great kids and I will always see my 'Big Cousin Iain' in each and every one of them.

I remember my Dad, Iain's late, beloved "Uncle Davey", sharing his avid interest in cars with Iain, and Iain's uncurbed enthusiasm for all things mechanical from an early age. (And having better, faster andalwaysimmaculate cars as the years progressed..!). And, when Iain got his first 'real' motorbike, he brought it straight down to show me, he was so proud of it..!

Bill, Mo, Mairi & Iain in Las Vegas

Iain and Mairi opened their hearts and home to us when we travelled to Scotlandin 2003. Bill and Iain worked in Libya together and have known each other for17 years. Iain was not a hard man to get to know so the friendship continued across the miles. Ian & Mairi travelled to Las Vegas NV a couple of years ago, so Bill and I took this opportunity to meet up with them for some laughs and abit of fun.

Our Love and condolencesgoto Mairi and the family--Iain will be sorely missed.
