WINNING — DAVID JAMES. At home, on 5th September, 2010, David was lovely, loving and very much loved by everyone, his wife Joyce and late wife Margaret, his family Catriona and Richard, Colin and Helen, Fiona and Tim, his step-family Andrew, Jenny and Rhona Gall and his seven wonderful grandchildren. A Service of Thanksgiving for David’s life will be held at Orchardhill Parish Church, Church Road, Giffnock at 9.45am on Thursday, 9th September. All who knew and loved him will be made very welcome. This will be followed by a private family committal. Please no funeral flowers, but instead buy a bunch for someone you care about or give a donation to the Pakistan Flood Appeal in memory of David.
Report this message By Donald McCalman on 7th Sep 2010As an undergraduate at Glasgow Uni, Prof Winning was my adviser of studies and lecturer for several years. My abiding memories of him were his enthusiam for his subject and his support for his students. Probably the most approachable of all the Drs and Profs, Dave was a big reason for why I did so well there.

Report this message By Richard De La Rue on 7th Sep 2010We are most sorry to hear of David's passing away. Clearly he has contributed much to the lives of others, as well as living life to the full - despite extended periods of serious illness.
Our sincere condolences to all those close to him. We shall, unfortunately, have to miss the service on Thursday , since we are due to be away from Scotland by then.
Richard and Barbara De La Rue
